Singer Tom Jones says singing has saved his life after his wife Lady Melinda Rose Woodward passed away.

Jones was married to Woodward for 59 years. She died in April due to lung cancer. Five months later, he says that he didn’t think he would ever sing again, but Jones is glad he decided to carry on.

Jones, who was scheduled to perform in Abu Dhabi on April 15, had to cancel his concert to be with his wife.

“She passed away from lung cancer and it was very quick. By the time they found it, she only had less than two weeks. So that hit me hard, and it still has,” Jones told Independent newspaper.

“I didn’t know whether I would be able to sing after that. But now I realise that singing is saving my life, once I started again,” he added.
