US actor John Malkovich won the best actor award at the Venice Film Festival on Saturday for playing a cynical CIA officer in the dark comedy Wild Horse Nine.
"I am humbled to be chosen for this award which has been given to so many wonderful actors," said the 72-year-old star of Dangerous Liaisons, who was not in attendance at the ceremony but sent a videotaped message.
