Residents of Dubai’s DIFC area woke up to the sound of helicopters and busy roads early Friday morning. The reason: Jackie Chan’s Kung Fu Yoga, was filming, a reliable source has confirmed to tabloid!
Police cars, ambulances and fire trucks were seen lining up the road next to the Financial metro station at 6am as a helicopter hovered above and men in uniforms talked frantically into walky-talkies. Many onlookers thought it was the crew of Star Trek Beyond filming. The cast and crew of the sci-fi film are also in town.
Then, by midday, they had all but gone.
“Shaikh Zayed Road partially closed today (Friday) from 6am till 1pm, between DWTC intersection and Dubai Mall intersection due to an aerial video shoot taking place in that location. Kindly use alternative routes to avoid any delay,” it posted.

Chan is expected to be in Dubai over the span of 33 days, starting September 28 and wrapping up on October 30.
A hundred international crew members will be in the city for the shoot, assisted by a local pool of talent. An unspecified “iconic landmark” will be used for a series of car chases. Director Stanley Tong said earlier they were “greatly looking forward to” filming in the UAE.
On Thursday night, Sood was spotted night hanging out with Chan at the fancy Nobu restaurant in Atlantis, The Palm.
“Thanks Jackie for an amazing dinner at #nobu #Atlantis #KungFuYoga”, the actor tweeted, along with a photo including the crew of the film.
After Dubai, production of Kung Fu Yoga will move to Beijing and later in India.
