The punk-rock band performed to a full house at the Lollapalooza India festival in Mumbai

Dubai: Veteran punk rockers Green Day, whose infectious energy and talent thrilled fans at Expo City Dubai in January, recently performed in India for the first time, drawing huge crowds at the Lollapalooza India festival in Mumbai on March 9.
Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong, who never fails to address fans on social media after every live performance by the band, said on Instagram, “First time ever in India and it did not disappoint. We had a great time. We saw lots of sights and lots of wonderful people. Hung out... Lollapalooza... crazy that we’ve been playing Lollapalooza since 1994. Excellent time, excellent bill.”
Posting a series of photos, he called the show a “perfect end for an amazing run.”
Long-time Green Day fans would know that the band has a habit of calling someone from the audience up on stage during their shows, and the Mumbai gig was no exception.
Two lucky fans shared the limelight with Green Day - one was gifted Armstrong’s red guitar after playing the song Dilemma, and the other got to belt out her version of Do You Know Your Enemy.
A fan commented on Armstrong’s Instagram post, writing, “Your vocals soared, your guitar roared, and the way you connected with the audience was nothing short of magical.”
The Lollapalooza India festival, which took place at Mumbai’s famous Mahalaxmi Racecourse over two days, saw performances by Shawn Mendes and Glass Animals, among others.
Green Day’s new album ‘Saviors’ is out now.
