Govinda's comeback vehicle non-starter?
Bhagam Bhag which was supposed to catapult Govinda into the limelight saw very little of him
Priyadarshan's Bhagam Bhag, considered one of the most anticipated releases of 2006, saw a packed house on December 21 at the 7.30 pm show at Grand Cine City, Al Ghurair.
Though the film had a formidable cast with Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal at the helm, the film's biggest attraction was undoubtedly Govinda.
Most thought that this film was his comeback vehicle. Not surprisingly, a majority of the audience had turned up for the film only to see Govinda back in action.
Govinda's comic timing seemed to be intact as the audience lapped up his brief moments on screen. But they were disappointed with his role.
The film evoked a mixed response as many preferred the first half's lighter moments to the second half's uninspiring mystery elements. Kumar got the best one-liners while Govinda was made to play second fiddle, many felt.
Kumar's comic timing was appreciated and Rawal was, as usual, funny. Lara Dutta did not have much to do.
Govinda is back (but not with the proverbial bang), is the best news about Bhagam Bhag or else it's just an average film.
