Fun for the young and the older

People of all ages enjoyed the endless fun at the 25th Gulf News Fun Drive.

Children as young as 6 months could be spotted in cars and at the campsite in the evening, and 11-year-old Jesame and her sister Kiara, aged four, summed the event up for the younger enthusiasts.

The pair was helping their dad who was an allocated marshal for the drive.

Tabloid caught up with them as they stood on a giant dune waving a red flag, in a bid to slow down any on coming traffic after a vehicle was stuck on the other side.

Jesame said: "The Fun Drive is excellent fun for children. The desert is like a giant playground and me and my sister love riding in the dunes with my dad.

"He is a really good desert driver which is why we feel so safe. It is our job to wave this flag to prevent any accidents."
The older drivers were having as much fun.

Ravi Dube and his friend Ashok Noronha, 52, said the event also had plenty of appeal for the older generation.

Ravi, who has completed more than 10 Fun Drives, wanted to introduce the dunes to his friend, Ashok, who was visiting from India.

He said: "There is just always a great buzz each year. It is a challenge each year and I love the fact that it never gets boring. The dune bashing, coupled with the party atmosphere, great food and entertainment is the perfect combination for people of all ages."
