Actor Aamir Khan played double role — Sahir and Samar — in "Dhoom: 3"

After becoming the first movie to make the fastest Rs100 crore (Dh59 million) in just three days of its release, Aamir Khan-starrer Dhoom: 3 has created another record by collecting Rs252.70 crore at the Indian box office within two weeks of the release. This includes the earnings made by its Tamil and Telugu versions also.

Directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, the movie, which hit the theatres on December 20, was released in about 4,000 screens. Also featuring Katrina Kaif, Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra, Dhoom: 3 was made on an approx budget of Rs100 crore.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to microblogging website Twitter to share the news.

Dhoom: 3 week 2 — Total Hindi: Rs240.78 crore, Tamil and Telugu: Rs11.92 crore. Grand total: Rs252.70 crore,” Adarsh tweeted on Thursday.

The movie earned Rs36.22 crore on the first day, followed by Rs33.36 crore and Rs38.09 on the second and third day respectively.

In the first week itself trade analysts predicted that the movie will gross Rs250 crore in the first two weeks.

The third installment of Yash Raj Films’s popular Dhoom franchise, Dhoom: 3 saw Bachchan and Chopra reprise their roles as Jai Dixit and Ali. Khan was seen in a double role as Sahir and Samar, while Kaif played a female acrobat, Aaliya.
