Veteran writer Salim Khan has had surgery for a hernia at a suburban hospital in Mumbai.
79-year-old Khan, father of Bollywood superstar Salman Khan and actors Sohail and Arbaaz Khan is admitted to Lilavati hospital in suburban Bandra.
“[Salim] has undergone hernia operation. There is nothing to worry,” a family friend said.
Khan, as part of the prolific screenwriting duo Salim-Javed, wrote popular films such as Haathi Mere Saathi, Zanjeer, Sholay and Deewar among others.
He has two wives, Sushila Charak (also known as Salma Khan) and actress Helen.
