Bollywood actor Vicky Kaushal says he is excited to go to the Cannes Film Festival where his upcoming film, Raman Raghav 2.0, will premiere.

The Anurag Kashyap-directed thriller stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui as a serial killer and the Masaan actor as a policeman.

The film will be showcased at Cannes’ Directors Fortnight section. The festival will open on May 11.

Kaushal says the film’s screening will coincide with his birthday. “I’ll be going to Cannes with the whole team on May 14. I think the screening will be on May 16, which also happens to be my birthday. This will be the best birthday gift. I couldn’t have asked for more,” he said.

Raman Raghav, also known as Psycho Raman, was a serial killer who terrorised the streets of Mumbai in the mid-1960s.

Kaushal, 27, has worked with Kashyap before, on Gangs of Wasseypur in 2010, which also starred Siddiqui.

The Zubaan star said: “I am extremely excited, I am already dreaming about being in Cannes. What is more special is I am going with a team which has seen me grow over the years. It feels extremely special.”

Kashyap is no stranger to Cannes. He showcased his films Ugly and the two-part crime saga Gangs of Wasseypur on the sidelines of the Cannes festival.

Raman Raghav 2.0 is scheduled to release in India on June 24.
