Pakistani actress Mahira Khan, best known for her TV series Humsafar, is making her Bollywood debut alongside Shah Rukh Khan.
The actress, who starred in the acclaimed film Bol in 2011, has been signed by producers Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar for Raees, which will be directed by Rahul Dholakia.
Sidhwani confirmed the casting via Twitter post.
Khan follows in the footsteps of recent Pakistani actors who signed up for projects across the border: Fawad Khan made his Bollywood debut with Khoobsurat and Humaima Malick appeared in Raja Natwarlal. Humsafar is hugely popular in India.
Filming for Raees is expected to begin in February.
