Singer-composer releases ‘Dilli Ki Raat’ from forthcoming film ‘Indu Sarkar’

Veteran singer-composer Bappi Lahiri on Friday released his new song Dilli Ki Raat from forthcoming film Indu Sarkar. He said the song is a tribute to legendary composer R.D. Burman.
“Around 1975 was the time when I became ‘Bappi Lahiri’ — the singer. Through this song I got to relive that time. Before me it was Pancham Da’s [R. D. Burman’s] era. This song is a tribute to him. People will get to hear something new in this song. I only sing one song in a year and with God’s grace, every song becomes a hit,” he added.
Dilli Ki Raat, sung by Lahiri and Anmol Malik, is a disco number complete with glittery crystal balls and reminds listeners of Lahiri’s popular singles from yesteryears.
Asked whether the single will be in sync with the content of the film, Lahiri said: “I wanted the song to be in sync with the story and do justice to the era the film is set in. I am a big fan of Pancham Da and, in a way, this song is a small tribute to him from a music lover. We have tried recreating the magic of 1970s.”
Set against the backdrop of the state of emergency imposed between 1975 to 77, Indu Sarkar also features Anupam Kher.
The film is slated for a release on July 28 in India.
