‘Jersey’: Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film, which is a Hindi remake of the Telugu hit of the same name. The Hindi version is directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, who also helmed the original that was released in 2019. ‘Jersey’ is about a gifted cricketer Arjun who fails to make a mark in his sporting career. However, he decides to make a comeback in his late 30s and play for India to fulfil his son’s wish.

‘Kaithi’: One of Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn’s most popular roles was in ‘Drishyam’, a Hindi remake of the smash hit crime drama from Kerala that starred Mohanlal. It seems Devgn knows the power of South Indian cinema because he’s set to remake famous Tamil action thriller ‘Kaithi’. He will play the lead in the film and will also be producing it in collaboration with Reliance Entertainment and Dream Warrior Pictures. The Tamil film is about an ex-convict who wants to meet his daughter after leaving prison. However, he ends up being caught in the middle of an orchestrated drug raid.

‘HIT’: Sanya Malhotra (pictured) and Rajkummar Rao have signed on to star in the Hindi remake of the Telugu blockbuster ‘Hit’. ‘HIT — Homicide Intervention Team’ is about Vikram, a police officer grappling with a personal tragedy while investigating a missing girl named Preethi. The original released in 2020 and featured Vishwak Sen and Ruhani Sharma in the lead roles.

‘Thadam’: Aditya Roy Kapur will take the lead in the Hindi remake of the Tamil hit ‘Thadam’ (pictured). The thriller will see Kapur in a double role for the first time. Helmed by debutant director Vardhan Ketkar the remake will reportedly go into production in September. The movie is based on the investigation of a man’s murder. The police end up finding two suspects who look identical.

‘Soorarai Pottru’: South Indian superstar Suriya’s (pictured) 2020 Tamil blockbuster ‘Soorarai Pottru’ will get remade for Bollywood. The remake will be directed by Sudha Kongara, who also helmed the original, and a cast has yet to be picked. The movie is about Maara, a young man from a small village, who has aspirations of launching his own airline. The film was partly inspired by the life of Air Deccan founder GR Gopinath.

‘Naandhi’: Ajay Devgn (pictured) is teaming up with producer V Venkata Ramana Reddy, known professionally as Dil Raju, for the Hindi remake of acclaimed Telugu crime courtroom drama ‘Naandhi’. ‘Naandhi’ was directed by debutant Vijay Kanakamedala and produced by Satish Vegesna, and starred Allari Naresh and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar. The movie follows the life of Surya Prakash (Naresh), an IT professional, who is wrongly accused in a high-profile murder case and spends years in prison waiting for his trial.

‘Helen’: Bollywood producer Boney Kapoor last year bought the rights to Malayalam survival drama ‘Helen’ (pictured). The hit movie, which originally starred Anna Ben, will be made into several Indian languages including Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Kannada. There are rumours that his daughter Janhvi will star as the lead character in the Hindi remake.
