Films involving Indian stars Emraan Hashmi and Dhanush will premiere at next month’s Toronto International Film Festival (Tiff).

Tamil drama Kaaka Muttai is produced by south Indian star Dhanush and directed by first-time filmmaker Manikandan. Both are expected to be present at the festival, which runs from September 4-14. Actors Babu Anthony and Aishwarya Rajesh star.

Hashmi’s first international project, Tigers, directed by the Oscar winner Danis Tanovic, is a co-production between India, France and Britain, and has Anurag Kashyap on board as a co-producer. It will be featured in the Contemporary World Cinema section of Tiff.

Tigers is a based-on-fact drama set in Pakistan, in which a young salesman, devastated when he discovers the effects of the infant formula he’s peddling, challenges the system and the powers that be.

Bosnian director Tanovic won the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar for No Man’s Land in 2001. Other actors in the film are Geetanjali Thapa, Danny Huston, Khalid Abdullah, Adil Hussain, Maryam D’Abo, Satyadeep Misra, Heino Ferch, Sam Reid, Supriya Pathak and Vinod Nagpal.
