Actress brought star power, sparkle, and heartfelt charm to major two-day community event
Dubai: Bollywood star Mallika Sherawat lit up the Dubai skies this Eid — quite literally.
The Bollywood actress brought star power, sparkle, and heartfelt charm to a major two-day community event organised by GDRFA Dubai to honour the city’s labor force.
Dressed in a Fuchsia Kaftan, Mallika mingled with workers, shared joyful moments, and even posted a video from the event — instantly winning hearts online.
Known for her bold roles in films like Murder and Pyaar Ke Side Effects, Mallika Sherawat has long been a headline-grabbing figure in Indian cinema. But this time, she wasn’t playing a character — she was showing up as herself, in support of a cause that matters. Her presence added a touch of Bollywood glamour to what was already one of Dubai’s most inclusive celebrations this year.
Held on June 6 and 7 as part of Community Year 2025, the event was organised by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA Dubai) under the uplifting slogan “Let’s Celebrate Eid Together.” Aimed at recognising the contributions of workers across the Emirate, the celebration was both heartfelt and massive in scale.
It all began with congregational Eid prayers, followed by a full day of cultural programs, raffles, and performances — running from 1 PM to 11 PM. More than 400 prizes worth over Dh500,000 were raffled off, including gold bars, smartphones, shopping vouchers, airline tickets, and yes — even cars.
To make the event even more accessible, workers in high-density areas could join remotely through a digital platform, register with their phone numbers, and win instant prizes — making it a hybrid celebration with wide reach.
Prizes were delivered directly to the winners’ accommodation sites in labor zones, ensuring everyone felt included and appreciated. It wasn’t just a party — it was a well-organised tribute to the backbone of Dubai’s workforce.
Major General Obaid Muhair bin Suroor, Deputy Director General of GDRFA Dubai, summed it up perfectly: “This isn’t just a celebration. It’s a message — you are seen, you are valued, you are Dubai.”
