Fans rejoice as Blackpink ends hiatus, BTS returns to the spotlight
Blackpink’s fans have been spiraling lately. While many were thrilled about the upcoming tour announcement, others feared the worst — that the girls might be quitting the band for good, especially after the ominous tour title, Deadline. Rumors intensified when fans noticed a lack of rehearsals and no sign of new music.
Turns out, they needn’t have worried.
Blackpink has officially begun shooting the music video for their upcoming song, marking their first new release in nearly three years, YG Entertainment confirmed on Monday.
According to the agency, the members began filming the video last Friday. The highly anticipated track will be the group’s first since their full-length album Born Pink dropped in September 2022, a hiatus of two years and eight months.
“We are shooting the music video in partnership with a famous director from overseas,” the agency said. “It will be an iconic video that comprises all of Blackpink’s identity and music.”
While fans are hungry for details, YG is keeping the title, concept, and release date under wraps.
“You can look forward to the special project to prove the reputation of Blackpink, which has become a global leading artist,” the company added.
Alongside the new single, Blackpink is gearing up for a global tour, with 31 performances across 16 cities. The tour kicks off with two shows in Goyang, Gyeonggi on July 5 and 6, with stadium stops planned across Asia and beyond.
Meanwhile, the rivalry between Blinks and BTS’s ARMY is heating up again. BTS members are returning from hiatus this month, and while the idols themselves remain friendly, their fandoms don’t hold back. Blinks have declared 'K-pop was boring without Blackpink,' while ARMY is rallying behind BTS to deliver the ultimate comeback.
Needless to say, 2025 is shaping up to be a blockbuster year for K-pop fans — with EXO also set to reunite.
Pick your side. The stage is about to get loud.
