Find out what went wrong while watching Final Destination: Bloodlines—no serious injuries
Dubai: A moviegoer's birthday celebration turned into a nightmare when a theater roof collapsed during a screening of the new horror film ‘Final Destination: Bloodlines’ - and the eerie timing has left audiences worldwide questioning if life really does imitate art.
The shocking incident unfolded at Cinema Ocho in Buenos Aires, Argentina recently as the film neared its climax. According to local reports from Infobae, recent heavy rains had weakened the roof structure, making it susceptible to collapse.
Fiamma Villaverde was watching the movie with her 11-year-old when disaster struck. While talking to the local media channels she said, "We heard this incredibly loud noise." "At first we thought it was just part of the movie because we were so caught up in it. Then this massive chunk of ceiling came crashing down on me,"she recalled.
Villaverde narrowly avoided serious injury because she happened to be leaning over her armrest at that moment. "I hadn't even planned on going to the movies that day," she said. "It was my birthday and we were just walking around when we saw the theater. The tickets were discounted, so we figured why not? We grabbed some popcorn and went in just as the movie was starting."
As per the recent IMDB reports, while no one suffered major injuries, the experience left Villaverde traumatised. She's now receiving psychiatric care and taking medication for panic attacks and anxiety. "I struggle being in crowded spaces now. I hadn't been to a movie theater in years, and I only went because it was my birthday. Look how that turned out."
The timing couldn't be more ironic – ‘Final Destination: Bloodlines’ follows people who escape death only to face increasingly bizarre fatal accidents. For Villaverde and other moviegoers, life briefly imitated art in the most unsettling way.
Social media has exploded with reactions to the incident. Instagram and X are flooded with comments from users expressing shock and disbelief that such a freak accident could happen during a Final Destination movie. Many are calling it eerily fitting given the franchise's premise about inescapable fate.
As of now, Cinema Ocho hasn't responded to requests for comment about the collapse.
The 2025 horror sequel Final Destination Bloodlines has achieved significant commercial success, earning $187.1 million worldwide according to Box Office Mojo data.
This performance positions it as the franchise's second-highest earner since the series began in 2000. The film trails only 2009's The Final Destination, which holds the top spot with $187.4 million in global box office receipts.
Given the narrow gap of just $300,000 between the two films, industry observers anticipate that Bloodlines may soon claim the title of the franchise's most financially successful entry.
