The R-rated horror flick just scared up millions of dollars in its global release weekend
Final Destination: Bloodlines just came crashing into theatres.
So hold on to your seatbelts — as this horror flick has left a trail of box office carnage.
Now, the story about a college student who inherits her lola’s (grandma’s) spooky sixth sense is making waves in the UK, Mexico, Brazil, and the Philippines.
Box Office Pro just reported that Bloodlines grossed $2.8 million in Brazil during its opening weekend. The movie also performed well in other international markets, including Mexico ($5.5 million), the United Kingdom ($5.3 million), and the Philippines ($3.4 million).
In local screens here, the sixth installment in the long-running death-defying franchise scared up an eye-popping ₱189 million during its opening weekend, making it:
The biggest Philippine opening of the year (so far)
The biggest debut ever for an R-16 rated movi
The second-highest horror opening in Philippine cinema history
Released on May 14, the movie didn’t just give fans their fix of freak accidents and eerie foreshadowing — it also gave the global box office a serious jolt.
According to Deadline, the Philippines ranked third worldwide in international ticket sales for the film’s opening weekend, right behind horror-loving Mexico and Brazil.
Together, international audiences added up to a terrifyingly impressive $51 million (₱2.8 billion) — which matches the movie’s US opening.
That’s some symmetrical box office destiny right there.
But wait — there’s more Pinoy pride packed into this premonition-packed slasher.
Final Destination: Bloodlines stars Filipino-Canadian actress Kaitlyn Santa Juana as Stefani Reyes, a college student who inherits her lola’s (grandma’s) spooky sixth sense.
When visions of death start creeping into her reality, Stefani must unravel the signs before her entire family meets their freaky fate.
Playing her brother is Filipino-American actor Teo Briones (yup, son of Jon Jon Briones and brother to The Pitt’s Isa Briones). Their sibling chemistry — and cultural roots — add fresh life (and stakes) to a franchise famous for its dead ends.
Also joining the bloody ride are Richard Harmon, Owen Patrick Joyner, Rya Kihlstedt, Anna Lore, Brec Bassinger, and horror icon Tony Todd, in what would be his final film appearance before his passing in November.
(Yes, that voice. That glare.)
This is the first Final Destination movie since 2011’s Final Destination 5 — and fans are eating it up like a ghost pepper on a dare.
Early reviews call Bloodlines the best in the franchise yet, thanks to its strong performances, gnarly death sequences (of course), and surprising emotional core.
So if you’ve been craving chaos, clairvoyance, and cleverly staged doom — you’re not alone.
The Philippines just made it official: Horror is back on the big screen... and we're loving every second of it.
You can catch Final Destination: Bloodlines in theaters now — before fate catches you.
