“Sir Chief and Maya”

While we’re at it, we might as well talk about another hot “loveteam”. TV’s surprise success team-up — Richard Yap and Jodi Sta Maria from series ‘Be Careful With My Heart’ — will finally be seen on the big screen with the same title. The planned movie has been selected as one of the official entries of the Metro Manila Film Festival in December. The cast will be the same and most likely be a culmination of the hugely successful and still ongoing TV series.

Guy and Pip

The most successful screen tandem of all time reunites in the made-for-TV movie ‘When I Fall in Love’ on TV5. Nora Aunor and Tirso Cruz III (more popularly known as Guy & Pip) will star in the series to be directed by Joel Lamangan. Also in the cast are Nadine Samonte and upcoming teenstar Akihiro Blanco. The film’s story is loosely based on Nicholas Sparks’ ‘The Notebook’ — but unlike the novel where the wife had Alzheimer’s, in the Guy and Pip reunion movie, it will be the husband (Cruz) who will have the disease and Aunor will play the role of the dutiful wife who takes care of her partner until the end.

Richard and Dawn

Talking about loveteams and reunion movies, Dawn Zulueta and Richard Gomez, whose screen tandem was a hit in the 90s, will also be paired on the big screen soon in a movie that will be produced by Star Cinema, which will also star John Lloyd Cruz and Jessy Mendiola. The two already had a successful reunion on TV in the hit series ‘Walang Hanggan’, which aired last year. The screenplay for the still-untitled film will be written by award-winning writer Ricky Lee; it is set for production next month.

Tom and Dennis

Still on loveteams. The quirky TV tandem of Tom Rodriguez and Dennis Trillo has been the talk of the town lately. The two male celebs star in ‘My Husband’s Lover’, which talks about the life and challenges of a couple where the wife finds out that her husband is secretly seeing a man. The series has been so well received, it has been consistently a hot topic on most social media networks, and was consistently trending on Twitter during its pilot week. Trillo and Rodriguez are thrilled at the commercial and critical success of the series which talks about a taboo subject openly. It’s become so successful that people are now officially and affectionately calling the “loveteam” “TomDen”.
