UAE to head committee on safeguarding heritage

Abu Dhabi: The UAE has been elected to head the Unesco's Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.

At its third session held in Turkey between November 4 and 8, the UAE was represented by an official delegation headed by Dr Nasser Ali Al Humairi, Director of Moral Heritage at the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH).

The committee is the executive body in charge of the implementation of Unesco's convention for the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage, adopted in 2003 and ratified by 104 states to date.
