British artist exhibits work in Sharjah

Dubai: Artwork by British artist Sacha Jafri will be on display at the Sharjah Art Museum on Tuesday. Organizers also hope to raise over ₤1 million for Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services during a charity auction.

“10 Year Retrospective of Sacha Jafri'' will showcase the artist's entire collection of works for the first time.

Jafri graduated from the Ruskin, Oxford University, with a first degree in painting. He is now considered one of the most exciting and dynamic British painters on the contemporary art scene.

Jafri has been hailed by the BBC as “the renaissance man who is set to seduce us away from conceptual art with his passion for painting,'' and is spear-heading a revival of painting through the genre of 'Magical Realism.'

The event is being held under the patronage of His Highness Dr. Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qassimi, Ruler of Sharjah and Supreme Council member.

The exhibition will run until March 29.
