Arikil Oraal, a suspense thriller

There’s a dark side to Sunil Ebrahim’s second film

When Sidharth, a creative director working in an advertising agency arrives at Ernakulam on a posting, his close friend Veena, a professional dancer, arranges accommodation for him to share with Icha, who works as a waiter in a coffee shop.

Sidharth and Icha hit off well from the word go. But as time goes by Sidharth and Veena are intrigued by Icha’s behaviour.

“There are certain incidents that make them wonder who the real Icha is?” said director Sunil Ebrahim about his second film, Arikil Oraal.

“So without his knowledge Veena and Sidharth go about checking his background details. This is a suspense thriller that will keep the audience hooked,” said Ebrahim, former marketing executive who also worked in an ad agency in Dubai.

Playing the lead characters are Indrajit as Sidharth, Remya Nambeesan as Veena and Nivin Pauly as Icha. Pratap Pothen and Lena Abhilash play significant characters in the film.

“Pothen plays Sudhir Bose, who is interested in the supernatural and spirits and is into researching this subject.”

Produced by Ashiq Usman with music scored by Gopi Sundar, Arikil Oraal, has been scripted by Ebrahim, who recalled being curious about black magic and spirits since his childhood days in his village of Madanvizha, in Trivandrum. Krish Kymal was cameraman.

Ebrahim and Pauly share a good rapport having worked together on his first directorial venture, Chapters.

“Indrajit is an amazing actor who was quick to understand his character,” said Ebrahim.

About Remya, he added: “She is passionate about her work and has sung the song, Kanavil Kanavil, that featured her in a dance.

“I am not stating that supernatural powers exist nor am I stating otherwise,” said Ebrahim. “I leave it to the audience to decide.”
