Award for Elissa
Lebanese singer Elissa has just won the Best Female Arab Artist award at a ceremony in Cairo. She apologised for not being able to receive the award in person and promised to head to Cairo the following week to collect it.
Nominees for the contest included Shireen and Nancjy Ajram. Fans had to vote online for their favourite artists.
Space crunch
Nancy Ajram, who will soon launch her new album, Bitfakkar Fi Eih (What Are You Thinking Of?), with 14 new original tracks, seems to be pretty mad at Haifa Wehbe (right). Her competitor has apparently booked all the billboards for her new album release, leaving no space for Nancy. Now Nancy will have to either confront Haifa or sneak up a billboard. We think the second option would be a better bet.
Performance problems
Lebanese singers Nicole Saba and Miriam Faris seem to have some problems with their performances. They were both called for questioning by the Egyptian Art Association after complaints were filed against them.
Nicole seemed to have disappointed her clients more than once. The first time she arrived late for a wedding performance and the second time she made an entrance when the wedding was over. On the other hand, Miriam Faris was questioned for her singing style. Was it a sore throat, Miriam?
Blame it on the Company
Jordanian singer Diana Karazon infuriated journalists when she arrived three hours late for a press conference held by her new production company. Worse still, she did not apologise for her being late but blamed it all on the company, saying they gave her the wrong time for the conference. Nice one, Diana!
Najwa's success is no joke
We wonder what led Najwa Karam to title her latest album Am Bimzah Ma' ak (I'm Joking). Whatever that was, we're sure that there are no jokes involved when it comes to her career. Her success proves this. She is just back from her concert in Jordan, accompanied by famous singer and musician Melhem Barakat. And the numbers speak for themselves – 1,500 fans attended her concert. Congratulations, Najwa!
