No religion rumours please, says dolly
Lebanese singer and actress Dolly Shaheen has denied rumours that she has converted to Islam in order to divorce her husband. Shaheen said that she is still a Christian, like the rest of her family, and added that such rumours were dangerous because religion is a very personal issue. However, she declined to comment on her divorce.
Omar marries
Jordanian singer and actor Omar Al Abdllat married his fiancé Suzy in a private ceremony in Cairo. Production company EF group, which produced Abdallat's series, Neran Al Bawadi, gave the couple a trip on a private jet as a wedding gift.
The heat is on
Following the heated competition between Egyptian singers Tamer Husni and Mohammad Hammaqi over a soft drink advertisement which Hammaqi did last year, the conflict spread to their fans and caused tension, with each side insisting that the artiste they supported was better than the other. In the end Tamer won the advertisement deal and was paid an alleged $2 million, although he refused to reveal the exact figure.
Nancy rules!
Lebanese singer Nancy Ajram stole the spotlight at the seventh Mowazeen Moroccan Music Festival last week, when more than 50,000 turned up to watch her. Sadly, only half this number attended Syrian singer Asala Nasri's concert the night before, although they were very enthusiastic. Asala even wore a special Moroccan traditional dress for the concert.
