Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor joins the likes of actors Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who have bought homes in Dubai. The 55-year-old actor, who is the star of Hindi TV series 24, made the announcement in Dubai on Tuesday.

“It’s a modest apartment. I feel anybody who invests should stay within the line they can afford and not overstretch themselves. My apartment here is affordable and in a good location,” said Kapoor after the press conference. Kapoor, who’s currently filming the second season of 24, has invested in a two-bedroom apartment with the property developer Danube at Al Furjan, near Discovery Gardens. But investments aren’t his sole priority.

“Now, I am immersed in the shooting of the second season of 24. The only regret that I have with 24 is that the season one of the TV series was screened in this part of the world like Dubai late. This time, we are going to air the second season simultaneously with India,” said Kapoor, who bought the official rights to adapt the hit US series in November 2011. Kapoor plays the lead character, modelled on the original protagonist Jack Bauer, on a mission to thwart terrorists. The second season is likely to air by the end of March.

“Doing 24 is like shooting for eight films simultaeniously. You are shooting for 24 hours of content and it’s exhausting. It puts a lot of strain — physically and mentally, he said. After the filming of 24, he will focus on creating the Indian version of Modern Family.

“I have a few people in mind and I am speaking to them to be in India’s Modern Family. I will announce their names as soon as I finalise,” said Kapoor.
