Known for her big personality, sense of humour and straight talking, Agnieszka Radwanska was in good form for a visit to the Dubai Creek.

Happy among the locals on a busy Saturday afternoon, the world No 10 dressed for comfort as she boarded one of the Creek's many abras.

Anyone imagining the Polish beauty pulled the "do-you-know-who-I-am" card, slap yourself on the wrist and apologise. Instead, the tennis ace queued up with a mixture of residents and tourists and jumped aboard a wooden boat without a thought.

"I like coming to Dubai," she said. "It's a nice tournament and I'm always happy to visit here."

That said, it was an insight into life on the Creek which really opened her eyes to Dubai.

"Dubai seems like a bunch of new futuristic buildings built in the middle of the desert," she said. "Sometimes I feel like once you've seen one you've seen them all. I love going to Madrid and to Miami to play tennis the most."

But after an hour among the hustle and bustle of Creek life, Radwanska agreed she may have spoken too soon.

"I think this is where the real life is happening," she said as she stepped cautiously from her boat in Deira.

"I quite like it. The people look interesting, like they have stories to tell."

Radwanska explored the Dubai spice souk and even took home some saffron and pistachio nuts.

Brief visit

Filming part of a commercial called Full of Surprises, Radwanska delivered her lines with ease to a camera crew aboard a second abra.

Dressed in shorts, a T-shirt and jacket, she embraced every minute of her brief visit — including a seagull-feeding session from the water's edge.

"I love these birds," she said laughing. "I love that they would just eat absolutely anything. It just doesn't matter to them."

Always one to have fun, Radwanska is known for her sense of humour and is often caught singing, dancing and playing the fool. The Polish player and her sister were caught on camera in Doha last year singing along to Lady Gaga's Poker Face complete with dance moves.

On shopping

"I like shopping, and brand names. I take the labels, the quality, but also the price into consideration. My favourite stores are Armani Exchange, Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein."

On the LBD

"I have more than one, but rarely do I wear high heels with it. My tired legs must rest. I prefer a smart sporty style."
