Dubai: Uma Thurman and Adrian Brody will be among the stars attending this year’s Abu Dhabi Film Festival, which takes place at Emirates Palace from October 14-23.

The festival, in its fourth edition, will open with Secretariat, the story of Penny Chenery, owner of the racehorse Secretariat, who won the Triple Crown in 1973, it was announced at a press conference on Monday. The film stars Diane Lane and John Malkovich, but their attendance has not yet been confirmed.

Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame, by Hong Kong-based director Tsui Hark, will close the festival. Both films are screened out of competition in the Showcase category.

Brody will attend with his film Wrecked, as part of the New Horizons category, while Thurman attend the festival’s closing Black Pearl Awards ceremony on October 23.
