Dubai: First it was Indian superstar Shah Rukh Khan. Now, American rapper 50 Cent has dropped off the roster of star performers at the upcoming Eid festival called Shoppiesta in Dubai.

Radhesh Menon, the director of the event, has confirmed to tabloid! that he has received an e-mail from the talent agency representing the rapper cancelling his participation.

"There's been a complete communication breakdown. Ever since we signed the contract and announced the event, various agents have been in touch with us claiming to officially represent the artist," Menon said. "Because of the confusion, we have decided to cancel the contract and claim back the money we've already paid for the artist."

The cancellation is bound to disappoint fans of the rapper.

50 Cent and Khan were the biggest names in the line-up of stars scheduled to perform at the five-day event, billed as consumer fair with shopping and a host of attractions planned around the concerts.

Khan was to have come with his co-stars from his upcoming superhero flick Ra.One which stars Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal.

Bollywood stars Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Malaika Arora Khan will still perform, added Menon, who said he was still in talks to bring two Western artists to the event.

Other performers still on the roster include Lebanese singers Nancy Ajram and Melheim Zein, Filipino pop and R&B band South Border, girl band Mocha Girls, Iranian diva Googoosh and Indian singers Hariharan and Shankar Mahadevan.
