Peshawar: Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mehmood Khan has termed the address of Prime Minister Imran Khan to the nation as balanced and a road map for meeting the grave economic challenges faced by the country.

In a press statement issued here, Mehmood Khan said the Prime Minister has given a new vision to the nation which is based on resistance to status quo.

The vision presented by Prime Minister Imran Khan is based on forcing the nation to stand on its feet and get themselves free from the clutches of the ruling elite class, Mehmood observed.

The synopsis presented by Imran Khan for establishmen of a welfare society based on principles of justice and equality is in fact a first step towards setting up of a real Islamic state, the Chief Minister added.

The announcement by the Prime Minister for reduction in extra expenditure and adopting of austerity measures are happy tiding for bringing real change.

The privileged class through its incompetent governance made the nation its slave and exploited it, Mehmood added.

In the first address to the nation, Imran Khan laid stress on supremacy of law and merit based decision which reflects a new trend of governance, he added.

The agenda presented by the Prime Minister in his address is based on provision of basic rights to poor including food, better health treatment and education.

Inclusion of water saving in the wake of reports about scarcity of the commodity and mention of climate change impacts on the country are also welcome steps, Memood comments. He said Pakistan is among the worst affected countries due to climate change.

The KP Chief Minister also termed the announcement made by Imran Khan regarding reduction in expenditure of Governor and Chief Minister houses and for conversion of Governor Houses into research centres as a very laudable step.

He also welcomed statement of the Prime Minister of not taking loans from foreign countries and for convincing masses towards tax culture besides improving performance of FBR.

Mehmood also termed constitution of a task force to curb money laundering as a step in the right direction to improve the economic condition of the country and if the looted money is returned, it will give a big boost to the country’s sagging economy.
