Sharjah: Sharjah is progressing steadily towards achieving high growth rates in its tourism and other economic sectors, Shaikh Sultan Bin Ahmad Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA), said.

Shaikh Sultan made this statement while chairing the third meeting of the SCDTA board of directors on Sunday.

"The authority is working according to a clear strategy so as to maintain the achievements already made and the high status attained by the tourism sector in line with the directives of His Highness Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah," the SCTD Chairman said.

Vision

"These achievements would not have been possible without the wise policy and strategic vision of His Highness, which has contributed significantly to developing the tourism climate and creating a developed investment environment."

The meeting touched on various important topics revolving around the authority's promotional strategies and plans for 2011 in light of the latest international developments on the tourism front.

It also discussed ways to activate the authority's new plans to push ahead with tourism promotion.

Held at the headquarters of the Sharjah Oil Council, the meeting was attended by SCTDA Director General Mohammad A. Al Noman and board members Marwan Jasem Al Sarkal, Abdullah Mohammad Al Owais and Abdul Wahhab Mohammad Al Roumi.

Shaikh Sultan said that he hoped that the board would continue to attain further achievements.

He emphasised the board's determination to utilise all possible efforts and work to enhance the emirate's leading position in the tourism and business arenas, both in the region and across the world.
