Ras Al Khaimah: The Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) announced the development of a sustainable tourism plan, based on a United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) assessment of current performance and future opportunities.

The new report will help RAKTDA integrate sustainability into its strategy to guide the development of tourism until 2030.

One of the major projects to form part of the development road map will be a sustainable luxury camp on Jebel Jais, featuring the latest technology to minimise energy use and conserve water. Ras Al Khaimah has put in place several initiatives, including a waste management programme to reduce landfill waste by 75 per cent by 2021, and will set up a renewable energy office in the mmirate in late 2017.
