Dubai: Dome Exhibitions, organisers of Abu Dhabi Shopper, is set to hold the first Consumer Electronics Fashion — The Big Sale 2016 expo in Sharjah.
The three-day event will be held from December 1-3 at Sharjah Expo Centre.
Antoine Georges, managing director of Dome Exhibitions, told Gulf News that Dubai has “Gitex Shoppers” and Abu Dhabi has “Abu Dhabi Shopper” but Sharjah and the Northern Emirates does not have one.
“Consumers in Sharjah and Northern Emirates have craved for their own shopper destination,” he said.
Major distributors, retailers and dealers are expected to participate but he did not give more details. “We will have the formal announcement and the participants list is currently under process. We have just announced the show after due diligence from the market and responses have been overwhelming — fashion and electronics category complement each other,” he said.
Some key players like Sharaf DG, Splash, Jashanmal and Better Life have already agreed to take part and more are expected to follow.
“Timing of the show is also very convenient since it’s the national day weekend and hence footfall is expected. Our offers will be limited to stock availability and have planned some exclusive for the shopper venue,” said Nilesh Khalkho, CEO of Sharaf DG.
Ram Udupi, general manager of Jashanmal, said the event could help boost sales at a time when retailers are seeing diminished sales.
“Our retails outlets in Dubai are struggling but, at the same time, our sales in Sharjah are improving compared to previous years.
Georges said he is expecting a footfall of more than 75,000.
