New Delhi: Apple, in association with the HDFC Bank, has slashed the price of its flagship smartphone iPhone XR in India for a limited period that will be applicable from Friday.

In the UAE, the iPhone XR - 64 GB variant - costs around Dh2,909, much cheaper than the Indian prices. Historically iPhone prices in India have always been more expensive thatn the U.S., Japana, UAE and several other countries. Many iPhone users based in India even purchase their phones from outside the country to escape the steep prices.

The till-the-stocks-last offer brings down the price of INR 76,900 (around Dh4,100) for the iPhone XR - 64GB version to INR 59,900 (approximately Dh3,199) for non-HDFC customers and INR 53,900 (around Dh2,880) with special cash-back offer for HDFC customers, the company said on Thursday.

"This is not a price drop or change on MRP but a limited term promotional offer which starts Friday," it added.

The 128GB iPhone XR (original price INR 81,900 or Dh4,374) will cost INR 64,900 or Dh3,466 for non-HDFC customers and INR 58,400 or Dh3,119 for HDFC users.

The INR 91,900 (Dh4,908) 256GB variant will cost INR 74,900 (Dh4,000) for non-HDFC customers and INR 67,400 (Dh3,600) for HDFC customers.

The iPhone XR

With all-screen glass and an aluminium design featuring 6.1-inch display which is touted as "the most advanced LCD in a smartphone," the iPhone XR houses A12 Bionic chip with next-generation "Neural Engine", which unlocks new experiences for immersive augmented reality (AR), games and photography.

The device has 12MP rear camera and 7MP front camera.

The iPhone XR is water resistant, with a rating of IP67, and protects against everyday spills including coffee, tea and soda.
