After cars, UAE consumers can 'subscribe' for smartphones too

Dubai: Now, UAE and Middle East consumers can even ‘subscribe’ to get themselves another pre-owned smartphone.

They can swap or upgrade their smartphones under a new monthly subscription-based model launched by Basatne MENA and Likewize, which is into extending the lifecycle of gadgets.

Monthly-subscription models have been hugely popular across a string of add-on services, from paying for web streaming services to renting a car. Taking the concept to smartphone ownership fits right into markets where usage has always been on the higher side and where having two or more models.

What the subscription model does is offer users a chance to opt for a change in their smartphone – without actually buying a new handset.
