Ras Al Khaimah: Shaikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, yesterday unveiled the Ras Al Khaimah Centre for Advanced Materials (RAK-CAM).
The ceremony was attended by Shaikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
Shaikh Saud said RAK-CAM is intended as a flagship for advanced materials research in the region and to provide education and training opportunities for aspiring scientists.
Expectations
"I hope RAK-CAM will also create business opportunities, conduct research in support of global industry and help create new options to ensure development for Ras Al Khaimah and the UAE," he said.
Shaikh Saud said that research in the Arab world has long been under-funded and called for efforts to advance research and development initiatives in the region.
