Dubai: Network International, a solutions provider, announced on Sunday it has partnered with Alipay, a China-based online and mobile payment platform, to provide payment services to Chinese shoppers in the UAE.

Network International will act as both a settlement partner and solution provider for mobile-based transactions on Alipay, a platform established by Alibaba Group and its founder Jack Ma. This will both at stores and for online purchases.

Alipay’s presence in the UAE comes as the country works to attract more Chinese tourists, with a visa-on-arrival scheme already in place for Chinese citizens among other initiatives in the tourism and retail sectors.

During a visit by Chinese President Xi Jinping to the UAE earlier this month, officials from both countries agreed to further strengthen trade and economic ties between the UAE and China. Network International said its partnership with Alipay is in line with the UAE’s plans to support Chinese visitors and those doing business in the country.

Alipay will soon also be available on Network International’s N-Genius payment platform that aims to improve the way businesses manage and accept payments. N-Genius can facilitate multiple payment methods on one device, so there is no need for merchants to have a separate machine to accept Alipay.
