Dubai: Ramadan Kareem to all our listeners! On today’s episode, we cast our eye to global events taking place whilst the Middle East slows down for Ramadan.

Blink and you’ll miss it. Has a thawing of relations just taken the tension down by a couple of notches between the US and China?

Well, according to comments made by US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin on Sunday, the trade war between the two is “on hold,” after the world’s largest economies agreed to drop their tariff threats, leading the way towards a wider trade agreement, according to Reuters.

We discuss how this could have happened after a bitter war of words between the pair, and what might lie ahead for the US and China, especially with the historic meeting between US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, a relationship that China plays a big part in, right around the corner.

And so as one trade war quietens down, does the other begin to liven up? The US looks equally as set for a trade war with its European allies as it did with China, so we discuss the potential for this, and who might benefit.

On today’s episode, we also preview our Wednesday show, which will centre around the general data protection regulation (GDPR), set to come in to force this Friday throughout Europe, and beyond.

Lastly, we discuss the US Federal Reserve, and when to expect the next interest rate hike, plus a couple of political events to watch out for this week, including the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and President Macron of France.
