Dubai: Dubai-headquartered Al Habtoor Group is setting its sights on Syria, with founding Chairman Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor leading a high-level delegation to Damascus in the coming days. The visit underscores a significant move by the Dubai-based conglomerate to explore substantial investment and cooperation opportunities across various sectors as Syria looks towards a period of rebuilding and recovery.

The Al Habtoor Group’s initiative reflects a strong belief in Syria’s potential to regain its economic strength and regional standing. Al Habtoor said, “Syria is a country rich in culture, history, and capable people. We believe in its future potential and are eager to play a role in its revival through meaningful projects that generate employment.”

He added, “We look to Syria with great confidence. Its people possess the energy and resilience needed to shape a strong and prosperous future. As an Arab group with deep regional roots, we consider it both a moral and economic responsibility to stand as a partner in rebuilding stable and thriving societies.”

A preliminary team from Al Habtoor Group is already in Damascus, conducting initial studies and engaging with Syrian authorities to pave the way for the official meetings. This forward-looking approach by a major regional business group signals growing confidence in Syria’s stability and future prospects.

This move by the Al Habtoor Group aligns with a broader trend of renewed international engagement with Syria. Recently, major airlines worldwide have begun re-establishing flight operations to Syrian airports, indicating an improved environment for travel and business. This includes several regional carriers that have restarted regular services, connecting Syria with key international hubs and facilitating the increased movement of people and goods.
