Dubai: In a significant development for Dubai’s evolving smart transport landscape, over 6,000 Dubai Taxi Company (DTC) vehicles are now available for booking through the Bolt platform.

The move marks a major step forward in the emirate’s broader efforts to digitize its transportation network and expand access to on-demand mobility services.

The newly integrated fleet includes DTC’s standard taxis, as well as specialty vehicles such as Ladies and Family Taxis and taxis for People of Determination. The expansion is part of a growing partnership between DTC and Bolt, a global mobility provider operating in over 600 cities worldwide.

The development comes as demand for e-hailing continues to rise in Dubai, a city aiming to shift 80% of taxi trips to digital platforms in the coming years.

UAE’s largest e-hailing platform goal

“This integration brings us closer to our goal of becoming the UAE’s largest e-hailing platform,” said Ammar Al Braiki, Chief Operations Officer of Dubai Taxi Company. “It reflects both innovation and a shared ambition to improve convenience and efficiency for passengers across the emirate.”

To mark the launch, Bolt is offering 30% cashback on a user’s first three taxi rides, with a promise of no surge pricing. The app also features live tracking, emergency response tools, and a driver rating system aimed at maintaining service quality.

GJ Kistemaker, Vice President for Partner Markets and MENA at Bolt, highlighted the significance of the partnership in supporting Dubai’s smart city ambitions. “This collaboration strengthens our presence in the region and demonstrates our shared commitment to efficient, tech-enabled mobility,” he said.

The initiative also aligns with Dubai Taxi Company’s 2025–2029 strategy to cement its leadership in the mobility sector, following its transformation into a public shareholding company under Law No. 21 of 2023.

With a current fleet of more than 9,500 vehicles and over 18,000 drivers, DTC is one of the largest transport providers in the region. Its collaboration with Bolt signals a growing shift toward digital-first mobility solutions in the Middle East.

As e-hailing competition intensifies, partnerships like this are likely to shape the future of urban transport in Dubai—and potentially beyond.
