Liwa University achieves AHPGS international accreditation for its Medical and Health Sciences programs

Liwa University announced that its Medical and Health Sciences programs have received international academic accreditation from the Accreditation Agency in Health and Social Sciences (AHPGS), a Germany-based body widely recognised across Europe for accrediting higher education programs in the health and social sciences.

AHPGS awards accreditation to institutions that demonstrate compliance with rigorous European standards in teaching, training, and academic outcomes. The evaluation ensures that academic programs are aligned with labour market needs and the evolving demands of modern healthcare systems, reflecting the University’s commitment to preparing graduates equipped to contribute to the healthcare sector at both local and international levels.

Professor Mohamed Mahjoub Dhiaf, President of Liwa University, noted that this accreditation represents an important development for the University and reinforces its commitment to internationally recognised quality standards.

He explained that the recognition reflects ongoing efforts to advance health and medical programs in line with global developments and to graduate students with the competencies and professional ethics required in the healthcare field.

Professor Maxime Merheb, Dean of the College of Medical and Health Sciences, stated that the accreditation is the result of sustained work to improve academic programs and incorporate European quality benchmarks.

He added that receiving AHPGS accreditation is expected to further enhance confidence among students, graduates, and healthcare institutions, while supporting graduates in accessing wider employment pathways both within the UAE and abroad. He also noted that AHPGS is regarded as one of Europe’s prominent accreditation agencies in the health and social sciences.

Following this accreditation, Liwa University confirmed its ongoing commitment to further developing its curricula, strengthening its learning environment, and expanding international collaborations.

The University emphasised that such steps support its broader objective of preparing graduates equipped to contribute effectively to society and to the healthcare sector in the United Arab Emirates.
