“Our medical technologies are at the heart of reshaping the sector,” says GM for BD MENAT
Medlab Middle East concluded its live presence at the Dubai World Trade Centre last week. The region’s leading medical laboratory exhibition brought more than 650 companies to showcase cutting edge laboratory innovations and solutions to healthcare and trade professionals from over 140 countries.
Becton Dickinson and Company (BD) also marked its presence at Medlab this year. The Medtech company brought an array of solutions covering areas of integrated diagnostics and biosciences – all with the effort to promote patient safety and care, combined with driving more efficiency in the region’s healthcare systems.
Maher Elhassan, Vice President and General Manager for BD Middle East, North Africa and Turkey said, “The future is here – that’s the message we brought forth at Medlab this year. The region is undergoing unprecedented transformation across every industry, and it is critical that we drive the same innovation in healthcare to help address some of the pressing challenges. From diagnostics accuracy to rising costs, to faster decision making and to patient safety and care – our medical technologies are at the heart of reshaping the sector to support healthcare organizations with the tools they need – so they can build a better tomorrow, today.”
During Medlab, BD’s regional executives demonstrated various solutions that can help address challenges in biosciences, diagnostics, lab automation, efficiency and improve workflows.
Dewanand Mahto, Clinical Development Manager, BD Integrated Diagnostics Solutions, Middle East & North Africa, said, “we are focussed on supporting healthcare organizations by delivering quality, new-age, and cost-efficient solutions. Through automation, integration and technology like Sepsis and AMR management, we intend to provide rapid and efficient patient interventions and diagnosis, helping hospitals to enhance patient treatment whilst reducing costs”.
Mohamad Kurdi, Clinical Affairs Manager, BD Biosciences, Middle East & North Africa said. “Our new-age solutions in the field of biosciences, are at the core of improving the experience of clinical laboratories and researchers with single-cell multi-omics. To maintain high standards of diagnosis and efficiency, we are introducing highly effective tools for scientists to study a single cell at the depth of gene expression and protein expression which would enable them to detect new mechanisms, and help accelerate diagnosis as well as treatment of many diseases.
According to market data forecast, the Middle East and Africa’s Medical Device technology market was valued at USD 62.63 billion in 2020, and is projected to grow to USD 71.49 billion by 2025. The improvement in technology has changed ways in which medical instruments are utilized to treat patients. From patient and caregiver safety and care, to reducing recovery time, costs, and improving efficiency – the healthcare sector can attain such benefits at large.
