Dubai: Hyundai Motor Group has signed up with Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) for a research collaboration to examine relationships among natural and built environments. These would underpin new “directions for the future of mobility”.
Hyundai also announced a smart mobility vision which aims to help vitalize human-centered future cities, focuses on three mobility solutions: Urban Air Mobility (UAM), Purpose Built Vehicle (PBV) and Hub.
“Through the collaboration, we’ve discovered that we have a similar vision for the future, and we’re able to develop a common language and working methods that will provide a solid foundation for a more fruitful collaboration going forward,” said Youngcho Chi, President and Chief Innovation Officer at the carmaker.
In line with the vision, four areas of future mobility - graphic design, industrial design, sound design for mobility, and textile design for mobility - were explored by RISD students, faculty and Hyundai researchers.
