Disruption caused temporary halt in services for customers attempting to use debit cards
Dubai: The Qatar Central Bank (QCB) has reported a technical issue that briefly disrupted the country’s National ATM and Point of Sale (POS) network, NAPS, affecting debit card withdrawals and transactions made on devices not affiliated with the card-issuing bank.
The disruption, which lasted for approximately two hours, caused a temporary halt in services for customers attempting to use debit cards across unaffiliated terminals. In a statement, QCB said that its specialized technical teams acted immediately to identify and resolve the issue.
“All necessary measures were taken promptly, and services have now resumed,” the bank confirmed.
QCB reassured the public that other payment services, including credit cards and the Fawran instant payment service, were unaffected by the disruption. These alternatives continued to operate normally, ensuring access to financial services during the incident.
