Transfers are capped at Dh25,000 per transaction, with a flat Dh10 fee for repeat users
Dubai: UAE residents can now send money directly to bank accounts in Jordan using the Careem app, as Careem Pay adds the country to its remittance network.
The launch comes ahead of Arafah Day and Eid Al Adha, a period that traditionally sees a surge in cross-border remittances from the UAE. Transfers to Jordan through Careem Pay are processed within 24 hours and delivered in Jordanian Dinars to any bank account with a valid IBAN.
Jordan joins other key outbound corridors available on the platform, including India, Pakistan, the UK, Europe, the Philippines, Lebanon, and Egypt.
With a significant Jordanian expatriate community in the UAE, remittances to Jordan regularly exceed $1 billion annually, making it one of the country’s largest remittance corridors.
Transfers are capped at Dh25,000 per transaction, with a flat Dh10 fee for repeat users. Careem Plus subscribers pay no fees on transfers above AED 1,500 and enjoy reduced charges on smaller amounts. As part of the launch offer, first-time users will receive zero fees on their first two transactions to Jordan.
The move reflects a broader trend in the UAE’s fintech sector to digitise remittances, offering faster and often cheaper alternatives to traditional exchange houses and banks.
Transfers can be initiated by selecting ‘Send Money’ in the Careem app.
