Emirates, Etihad, flydubai, Air Arabia cancellations, rerouting as regional tensions rise
Dubai: On the second day of escalating regional tensions following Israel’s attack on Iran, major UAE carriers — Emirates, Etihad Airways, flydubai, and Air Arabia — continue to implement changes to their flight schedules.
These changes, including cancellations and rerouting, are due to the ongoing regional situation and subsequent airspace restrictions. Airlines are prioritising passenger and crew safety, urging travellers to stay updated on their flight status.
Iran and Israel traded missiles and airstrikes on Saturday, the day after Israel launched a sweeping air offensive against Iran. The attack killed commanders, scientists and they bombing nuclear sites in a stated bid to stop it building an atomic weapon, according to a Reuters report.
In Tehran, Iranian state TV reported that around 60 people, including 20 children, had been killed in an attack on a housing complex, with more strikes reported across the country as Israel said it had attacked more than 150 targets.
Here are recent updates:
Emirates
Emirates has cancelled multiple flights to and from Iraq, Iran, Jordan, and Lebanon between June 13 and 15. Affected routes include Basra, Baghdad, Tehran, Amman, and Beirut. Passengers transiting through Dubai to these destinations, including onward flydubai connections, will not be accepted for travel until further notice.
Travellers are advised to check their flight status on emirates.com, contact Emirates offices or travel agents for rebooking, and update their contact details via “Manage Your Booking” for timely notifications.
Etihad Airways
Etihad has also implemented cancellations due to airspace restrictions. Flights between Abu Dhabi, Tel Aviv, and Abu Dhabi and Amman are cancelled from June 14–16. The Abu Dhabi–Beirut (EY583/EY584) flights on June 14 have been cancelled. Several other flights are being rerouted, and guests transiting through Abu Dhabi to affected destinations will not be permitted to board at their origin.
flydubai
Due to the current situation and the closure of certain airspace corridors, flydubai has temporarily suspended flights to and from a broad list of countries until June 15. These include Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Syria, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Russia, and Uzbekistan.
Passengers connecting through Dubai with final destinations in any of these countries will not be accepted at their point of origin.
Air Arabia
Air Arabia has also announced temporary cancellations for flights to and from Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Russia, Armenia, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan on June 13 and 14 due to the current situation and airspace closure.
Some other flights might face delays or rerouting. Passengers are advised to check their flight status at airarabia.com or contact their call centre. Affected customers will be notified directly.
All airlines reiterate that passenger safety remains their highest priority and that they are closely monitoring the situation. Travellers are advised to stay updated through official airline channels as further delays or cancellations may occur.
The UAE has issued an urgent travel advisory, calling on all Emirati nationals, residents, and visitors to check with their airlines for the latest flight schedules as ongoing regional tensions continue to disrupt air travel across the Middle East.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) published the advisory on Saturday, urging travelers to remain vigilant and stay informed about rapidly changing flight statuses in light of the evolving security situation. The advisory is particularly aimed at UAE nationals currently residing in or travelling to Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Iran, and Israel.
