Air India ceases operations to and from affected regions, citing airspace closures
Dubai: Air India, India's national flag carrier, has announced the immediate cessation of all its operations to and from the Middle East, as well as to and from the East Coast of North America and Europe, until further notice.
This drastic measure comes "amid the developing situation in the Middle East" and reflects a significant escalation in aviation disruptions due to regional instability.
The airline's statement indicates that India-bound flights from North America are being diverted back to their respective origins. In contrast, others are either being rerouted away from closed airspaces or returning to India. This comprehensive suspension highlights the severe impact of the current geopolitical climate on global aviation routes.
"We request the understanding of all passengers who may be affected by this disruption, which is beyond an airline’s control," Air India stated.
The carrier said it is continuously consulting with its external security advisors and vigilantly monitoring the evolving situation.
Air India said that its passengers and staff's safety and security remain its "number one priority." The airline has pledged to keep passengers informed of any updates as the situation unfolds, urging them to check for announcements before proceeding to the airport.
