Gulf Air has signed an agreement with Boeing for the purchase of 12 787 Dreamliner aircraft, with options for six additional jets, in a major move to enhance the airline’s long-haul capabilities and international reach.

Once finalised, the deal will bring the airline’s total confirmed orders to 14 Dreamliners, reinforcing its strategic expansion plans and fleet modernisation efforts.

The agreement was signed in the presence of Bahrain’s Minister of Finance and National Economy, Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, and US Secretary of Commerce, Howard Lutnick. Also attending the ceremony were Boeing Commercial Airplanes President and CEO Stephanie Pope and Gulf Air Group Chairman Khalid Taqi.

“This agreement marks a transformative step in Gulf Air’s strategic growth journey,” said Taqi. “The Boeing 787 Dreamliner has been instrumental to our long-haul operations, and this new order reaffirms our commitment to sustainability, passenger comfort, and positioning Bahrain as a prominent global aviation hub.”

Boeing’s Stephanie Pope welcomed the continued partnership. “This investment in the 787 Dreamliner underlines Gulf Air’s confidence in Boeing’s technology and sustainability focus. It strengthens our long-standing relationship and supports thousands of jobs across the United States.”

The new order is expected to support approximately 30,000 jobs across the US aerospace sector.
