Carrier recruiting Filipino engineers currently working abroad amid fleet expansion
Manila: Cebu Pacific (CEB), the Philippines' leading low-cost carrier, is calling on overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) with aviation expertise to return home and join its engineering team.
Through its newly launched program, "Juan Flight Closer to Home," the airline is actively recruiting Filipino engineers currently working abroad, offering a comprehensive relocation package and career opportunities in aviation engineering.
The fresh recruitment drive aims to reinforce Cebu Pacific’s engineering and fleet management capabilities amid ongoing expansion.
Positions available include:
Aircraft cabin interiors engineer,
Aircraft structures engineer
Maintenance controller
Powerplant engineer, and a
vionics engineer, among others.
“Filipino engineers have earned the respect of the global aviation industry, and we believe it’s time to bring that excellence home,” said Felix Lopez, CEB’s Chief Human Resources Officer, in a statement released Thursday.
The airline, part of the Gokongwei Group, noted that the programme is designed to attract globally experienced talent to enhance local operations.
The relocation package offered under the program includes a complimentary flight to Manila with baggage allowance, one-time relocation assistance, immediate healthcare coverage from the first day of work, and travel perks for both the employee and their dependents.
While CEB has not disclosed the total number of job openings, it stated that hiring will be based on applicants’ qualifications and alignment with operational requirements.
More than 10 engineers have already joined Cebu Pacific ahead of the program’s official rollout, underscoring the growing interest in the initiative.
The airline currently operates a fleet of 92 aircraft servicing 62 destinations across domestic and international routes, whilei it continues to expand its footprint.
In July 2024, the airline announced a deal to purchase up to 152 Airbus aircraft, then valued at $24 billion. The transaction was hailed as the largest aircraft order in Philippine aviation history, marking Cebu Pacific's long-term growth ambitions.
