Elizabeth is worried that she won't be asked to be a godparent, says a friend
After her very public affair with former Aussie cricketer Shane Warne, Liz Hurley fears she could be snubbed as godmother to Elton John's baby Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John — with the Beckhams taking on the role of godparents.
Hurley was one of the first to send her congratulations — via Twitter, of course— to him and his partner David Furnish, 48, following news that they "fathered" a baby son from a surrogate mother in California, but is yet to receive an invitation to the font.
"Elizabeth is worried that she won't be asked to be a godparent," says a friend. "She's spoken to Elton and David in California since Zachary was born and she knows that David and Victoria Beckham have been asked — but Elton hasn't mentioned anything to her. He's pretty unimpressed by the Shane debacle."
The 45-year-old model-cum-swimwear designer had spoken at length to John and Furnish about the impending arrival of Zachary over the past few months.
The Rocket Man singer is godfather to the Beckhams' son Brooklyn, 11, and the friend added: "Elton has a habit of practising tough love and if his beloved friends exhibit bad behaviour, especially self-destructive behaviour, he doesn't tolerate it. Elizabeth is convinced he's decided to make the christening his way of expressing his disapproval."
