Dubai: Etihad Airways reported delayed or cancelled flights due to heavy fog on Saturday as the weather bureau said early morning fog is likely to cover parts of the UAE in the next three days.

Fog was seen in parts of the UAE on Saturday, with the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) saying that there is a chance of more fog formation on Saturday night, as well as Sunday and Monday mornings.

The NCM said that the weather on Saturday will remain fair to partly cloudy in general and hazy at times.

Flight delays

Meanwhile, Etihad Airways said that flights have been cancelled or delayed from Friday night until Saturday due to heavy fog.

The airline said that affected passengers have been given hotel accommodation or refreshments.

Etihad Airways also said that it anticipates more flight delays and cancellations due to heavy fog forecast in Abu Dhabi over the next few days.

"As a consequence, some return flights into Abu Dhabi are also expected to face disruption," the airline said in a statement.

The airline advised guests holding bookings over the next few days to check the status of their flights on etihad.com/flightstatus or through the Etihad Airways mobile app before proceeding to the airport.

In Dubai, a Dubai Airports spokesperson told there have been no flight cancellations or diversions at Dubai International Airport.
