Dubai: Authorities in Sharjah are urging motorists to take advantage of the 50 per cent discount in traffic fines, which expires on March 1, 2018.

Sharjah Police have announced that the Tasjeel office at the Sharjah Auto Village, located on Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed (MBZ) Road, will be open until midnight on February 27 and 28.

The reduction in traffic fines was launched in accordance with the directives of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, which offered a 50 per cent for fines accumulated from January 1, 2017 to December 2, 2017 to mark the Year of Zayed.

In the run-up to the deadline, police across the UAE have notified residents about the upcoming deadline through social networking sites.

Dubai Police have also issued a reminder to motorists, urging them to nake payments through a variety of options, including the traffic department, car registration centres, UAE bank websites and RTA centres.

Once the discount on fines end on Thursday, motorists will have to pay the full amount for their traffic violations.
